There are people who will tell you that Linux is superior to Windows in every imaginable way, and that you will never ever again want to stab your computer after installing it. These people are lying.
Indeed. Linux seems fine for very computery-minded people, usually the kind who who a bit about coding and such. But for everyday use, especially in the workplace or whatever, ye olde Windows XP covers most bases adequately and, more importantly, has a really highly-developed support network to ensure that it stays operational. The open-source nature of Linux would be the sinlge biggest thing that'd worry me about using it across an entire company or department.
Though I did once know a Computer Science major who was going to install Linux on an Xbox, which was amusing in its own right.
