*Adds Gov. Chris Gregoire to the list of "Democrats who need to get kneecapped"*
So...Washington State is in a bit of a budget crisis due to the recession. The solution? Cut any state program that gives people a real shot at pulling themselves out of the hole the economy has put them in. Tax the rich? Nah. Tax soda and candy? OMG!!! Families are suffering!!! Leave poor people to starve, eliminate state health-care programs, and cut the education system down at the roots? Yeah. That's the ticket.
Not only is this fucked up from a moral perspective, it's also bloody stupid. A sick, uneducated populace trying to survive on the margins does not make for a strong economy. It does, however, keep the vultures, the self-indulgent, and the just plain ignorant comfortable for a bit longer. Thank god we've got our priorities straight. /sarcasm
Awesome comment on one of the articles, though.
And the perfect season for it too!
"...Are there no work houses?" "If the poor insist on becoming ill, let them die and be done with it. That will decrease the surplus population."
The ignorant have spoken. Better a dollar in their pocket than a teacher in a classroom. -Source
