Observation of the day- nothing kills the buzz of a historic presidential election like the residents of your home state deciding that you're a second-class citizen. And putting it into the fucking constitution.

Why? Honestly, I don't get it. I really don't. Why are we so threatening? Why do they hate us so much? Why is it so terrible that people might see us as human?

I'm swinging between sadness and anger. The anger especially because this passed with such a high Democrat turnout. All these bright happy Obama voters, so thrilled to talk about "change" and about how wonderful it was that we could elect a black man, and "Yes We Can"- so long as "we" are straight. Goddammit. I expected this from places like Arkansas and Florida. But coming from such a solidly blue state- well, it hurts.

I can't even imagine what this is like for the couples in the state who have just seen their marriages ruled null and void by the will of the people. The attorney general is saying the marriages already performed won't be invalidated, but lets just say that I'm not so optimistic. The people behind this won't be satisfied with a partial victory. They've already shown that. There is no limit to their depravity, no tactic too low, no lie they will not tell. They don't care about families or children. They care about making sure that we know what our place is. And apparently California agrees with them.
